Bob Bryant started home brewing in the late 80's and early 90's when there was no internet for research and no Youtube for education. The best resource was Charlie Papazian's The Complete Joy of Home Brewing and the best sanitizer available was chlorine. While Ok, his beers weren't all that great. Bob had to quit brewing for a while as work, family, and bicycling didn't provide enough spare time to brew. As he was headed towards retirement in 2017, he decided to take up the hobby once again. Moving to modern techniques, and sanitizers, the quality of his beers significantly improved. At the same time, Hartland Academy was for sale. Being an old brick building with lots of room, Bob thought, What a great place for a brewery! but was dismayed by the expected costs of asbestos remediation and maintenance of a late 1800s building. Undaunted, he gave his beers names using school alliterations. The only break to this theme is Arey's Maineiac IPA, a hazy IPA named after his father. Having bought his favorite house on Great Moose Lake after retirement, he recruited his son and opened a nano-brewery and coffee roastery in his garage serving Hartland and the Great Moose Lake community. Bryant's Brewing opened February 2nd, 2022 and serves extraordinary craft beer and fresh roasted coffee on the shores of Great Moose Lake!
